The Pebble Lane Difference
I
nspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, Pebble Lane applies the concept of self-regulated learning. Our teachers observe what your child gravitates toward and expand on his or her interests. Children want to learn. They become even more excited about learning if the subject is something they already like.

And when a child explores things that pique their interest, their confidence in those things, and in learning itself, builds and matures. With this additional self-confidence, children develop their understanding of new ideas and concepts even faster.

With two decades of early childhood education experience to draw from, owner Jennifer Ratcliffe launched her lifelong dream of opening Pebble Lane Early Learning in 2015.

Her first program for 3 to 5 year olds was well received. In 2018 Jennifer expanded the operation to create the Toddler program for those aged 15 to 36 months. In 2024, another location was added to further expand the ability to support parents.

Our team of qualified early learning specialists continues to develop skills and knowledge to better serve your child’s needs.

Positive Guidance
Positive guidance is a key element that encourages positive behaviours. Positive guidance can be applied in any setting, whether at home or at day care. It gives the child control of their actions even when they are expected to complete a task. For example, instead of saying to your child “put your shoes on, we have to go,” which is a form of adult control, positive guidance gives the child control by asking, “which shoe would you like to put on first, left or right?” This promotes a sense of control and responsibility.
Learning through creative expression
As we guide your child through self-regulated learning, we introduce art as a tool to express emotion and assist with behavioural development. Art is a tremendous way to relieve any stress your child might feel in certain situations. When that stress is gone, emotions are calmed and your child is open to embrace new learning skills. Our approach puts more importance on the satisfaction of making a picture instead of the end result.  We guide your child to explore what else is possible with colours and shapes. Imagination has no limits and each child brings their own creativity to the classroom.
A Fun-Filled Day
T
he unbridled energy that’s a huge part of every child needs to be released. We have that covered. Each day is full of different activities to keep your child engaged. Events can include story time, dance, learning letters and numbers, snack time, art, outdoor play, socializing, emotional development and of course nap time (we all love a good nap right). It’s a fun and full schedule.

Social development such as taking turns and sharing are taught through play. Additionally, children learn respect and develop a sense of belonging.

Outdoor play takes place in our beautiful outdoor playground constructed with natural materials to foster an appreciation of the earth. Our games and toys are also naturally crafted. Natural toys serve to maintain a degree of calm as opposed to toys that overstimulate your child with brilliant colours and artificial sounds.

What Parents are Saying
Heather

I am extremely pleased with my daughter’s daycare, actually it is beyond just daycare. She is given opportunities to explore and learn on a daily basis, including art, dance, math and language skills and self expression. She is taken outside twice a day. The staff have been very cautious and prepared for Covid Standards and I appreciate how hard they work to keep our children safe. My daughter is happy and fulfilled here and always has a fun story to tell me at the end of the day. I highly recommend Pebble Lane.

Our little guy just absolutely loves pebble lane! He’s in the 3-5 program and I cannot rave enough about the teachers. Karli and Shelley are just fabulous. We are so lucky to have them!! We all remember specific teachers who touched our lives and my heart breaks just thinking about next year when he’s 5 and won’t be here! He’s excited to go, asks on weekends if he can go... and there have been times where he’s asked why we are picking him up early and to come back later!!! Which speaks volumes about the program! Thanks for making such a wonderful environment for our kiddos.

Becca

Highly recommend this daycare! My little guy has been attending Pebble Lane for over a year now and he absolutely loves it! He always has so much to tell me about what he learnt on our way home after pick-up 🙂 He used to be a shy quiet little guy but thanks to the amazing teachers at Pebble Lane, I’ve seen him come out of his shell and become quite social! We can’t thank the teachers enough for all they do!

Building Community Spirit
S
ince day one, Pebble Lane has worked hard to be an integral part of the community. It’s so rewarding to see parents connect with each other outside of school time. We truly believe in the spirit of community and the friendships that are forged during the time your child is with us. We’re delighted to continue the tradition of Mother’s Day dinners, end of the month hot lunches, Christmas concerts and other events. It’s more than just about giving your children a great start. There’s a desire to instill lasting values and create memories.

Because giving back is so important, Pebble Lane is proud to support the Tiny Bundles Program at the Surrey Food Bank.  So many children go without basic needs of food and clothing.  We understand the impact of going without, and believe it’s our community responsibility to help with annual donations of cash and items.
